Technical Assistance to Brownfields Program
What is TAB?
Supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the University of Connecticut (UConn) Technical Assistance to Brownfields(TAB) program provides FREE assistance to New England communities, regional entities, non-profits, tribes, and other public entities to advance the investigation, cleanup, and redevelopment of brownfield sites. Brownfields are properties such as mill buildings, abandoned gas stations, laundromats, and older buildings that are abandoned and/or underutilized and may be contaminated due to their prior use. For rural areas, where environmental health challenges can be compounded by limited resources and infrastructure, this support is invaluable in creating healthier, more sustainable communities.
How NERHA Contributes to Rural Health through the TAB Program:
NERHA is proud to partner with the UConn TAB program to support rural communities across New England in addressing brownfields and the environmental health challenges connected to them. Rooted in our long-standing commitment to rural health, NERHA brings specialized public health expertise. Through this collaboration, we aim to bridge the gap between environmental needs and rural health solutions. By connecting communities with UConn TAB’s valuable resources, we work together to address environmental challenges and transform brownfield sites into assets that benefit everyone.
